SOLAR PANELS FAQS
WE ARE HERE TO HELP

Solar PV Panels are devices that convert natural sunlight into green energy. They are made up of small units called photovoltaic cells that are commonly made of silicon. In summary, once the sunlight hits the photovoltaic cells, the electrons move, which causes an electric current.
They tend to be installed on the properties roof via a mounting system. The Solar Panels generate electricity through natural sunlight. The electricity is measured in Kilowatt hours, and the value of electricity produced by the panels is subject to the amount of solar panels installed on the roof. The electricity that is generated can be used to power all appliances in the property.
The Solar Systems we install allows the generated electricity to power appliances during sunlight hours, and the smart software ensures that electricity is only sent back to the grid once there is a sufficient amount of electricity stored to power your home during non-daylight hours. Any excess electricity is sent back to the grid.
Yes! One of the primary advantags of Solar Panels in Ireland is their ability to significantly reduce your energy bills. By definition, solar panels allow you to become more energy independent. Meaning you generate your own electricity hence, reducing the need for external electricity providers.
A number of factors must be considered when assessing the value of the energy savings. For example, how many panels a property has and the size of the panels will influence the magnitude of the energy savings. Additionally, how much sunlight the property receives will also impact the cost reduction. Nonetheless, on average a household in Ireland can save anywhere between 40%-60% on their yearly electricity bills.
According to the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), a 2KW system generating 1700KW should have savings of between €700 and €883 depending on charges. A 6KW system should generate up to 5100KW meaning potential savings of between €2100 and €2662!
Typically, solar panels can last up-to 25 years. After 25 years, the efficiency of solar panels reduce by 20%. They require minimal maintenance and here at Solar Works we work closely with our clients to ensure that their solar panels operate at maximum efficiency via our maintenance programs.
Depending on the area or building you live in, you may require planning permission to install Solar PV systems. If you are in doubt, it is always advised to contact your local planning office before investing into Solar Systems process. This will save you costs and stress in the future.
Solar panels increase the value of a property across the majority of developed countries, including Ireland. The solar panels themselves are valuable to property investors as they reduce the energy bill of the property owner while providing a range of other desirable features such as reducing carbon footprints. Solar panels offer many advantages that are attractive to potential buyers.
Typically, house price valuations are increasing significantly due to the solar panels and the increased BER rating due to the solar installation. With some people experiencing a 3/1 increase in housing value over the cost of the installation. So a €12000 installation has increased home value up to €36000!

Darren and his team installed my solar system last Friday and I have to compliment him on the quality of his work. The 10kw ecoflow unit itself was installed very neatly in my back yard Through the very intuitive app Darren took the time to show me exactly how it all worked. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I have have drawn zero electricity from the grid which was exactly what I was looking for. In addition I have turned off the gas heating system as I can now use the excess electricity generated by the panels to heat the immersion so I only need to turn the gas back on if I need hot radiators in the autumn. Still waiting for my micro generation account to be set up with my electricity supplier but I'd imagine I will save even more money there as credit on my winter electric bills. I would highly recommend Solar Works Electrical Contractors if you need to get solar installed in your house.Posted on Google![]()
